Shade-loving plants thrive on slopes in Chinese montane forests.
The study looked at how different factors like slope and sunlight affect where different types of plants grow in a forest in China. They found that the slope of the land and how much sunlight it gets can change which plants are most common. Shady slopes had more plants than sunny slopes, and shrubs liked gentle slopes the most. The direction of the slope also mattered, with plants being different on different sides of the hill. Overall, the angle of the slope had the biggest impact on what plants grew where in the forest.
