Toxic metal pollution in Turkish lagoon threatens ecosystem and human health.
The study looked at metal pollution in the sediment of Koycegiz Lagoon System in Turkey. They used different methods to assess pollution levels, finding that Cr had the highest contamination. Most metals showed low to moderate contamination, except for Cr which was moderately to strongly contaminated. The discharge point of waste water had the highest pollution levels. Overall, human influence on metal pollution in the sediment was low.
