Bread beetles were found to carry Salmonella in fodder for poultry and pigs. The beetles stayed in the fodder for years, spreading the bacteria. When bread beetles were introduced to clean fodder, Salmonella was found in the samples within a year. This shows that bread beetles can spread Salmonella in animal feed.
