The goal of the study was to find a way to index and search old Arabic documents without needing to recognize their contents. The researchers developed a semi-automatic approach that focuses on the structural features of the documents' indexes, chosen manually by an expert. This approach was tested on around 1100 envelopes and showed positive results.
