Landfill leachate production in cold areas can be unpredictable due to changing seasons and long frozen periods. To study this, two landfill reactors were set up with and without leachate recirculation. By analyzing the data, a reliable model was developed to predict leachate production, aiding in designing better collection and treatment systems. The study also found that leachate recirculation can be effective for treating leachate in cold regions.
