Climate models overestimate winter rain, underestimate summer rain in East Asia.
The study looked at how well climate models predict rainfall in East Asia. They found that most models overestimate rainfall in spring, fall, and winter, but underestimate it in summer. Models with higher resolution perform better. By comparing model predictions to actual data, they found differences in where and when rain falls, showing uncertainty in the models. The study also showed that lower-level air movements from the western Pacific play a big role in summer rainfall patterns. This information can help improve climate models for East Asia.
