Soil erosion and sediment yield are difficult to measure due to the variability of soil and rainfall. Researchers compared two vineyard parcels to see if rainfall simulations accurately reflect real soil erosion. They found that while the rainfall simulator showed some differences between soil management types, it underestimated runoff and sediment yield compared to actual field conditions. This discrepancy is likely due to the limited variability in the rainfall simulator plot.
