Psychiatric Audits Boost Patient Care and Staff Education in Ontario Hospitals
A survey in Ontario found that 66% of facilities have psychiatric care audit systems. These audits are more comprehensive in provincial psychiatric hospitals than in general hospital units. Most audits involve multiple disciplines. While only half of facilities believe audits improve care, 71% think they help with staff education. Introducing a criteria audit system was discussed, with factors influencing its selection and both advantages and criticisms of this model.
