Historical buildings in Colima at risk of seismic devastation, study finds.
The article analyzes different methods to assess how vulnerable historical buildings in Colima, Mexico are to earthquakes. By using the vulnerability class method and vulnerability index method, the researchers were able to predict potential damage levels in these buildings. They compared their predictions with actual damage observed after a major earthquake in 2003. The study focused on fifteen historical masonry buildings, most of which were built in the 19th century. The results help local authorities plan for disaster prevention measures.
