Controlled-Release Urea Boosts Rice Yield, Cuts Pollution in China.
Using controlled-release urea (CRU) in rice production can increase grain yield and nitrogen use efficiency while reducing environmental risks. In a study conducted over three years, CRU-treated rice plants had higher grain yields and nitrogen accumulation in both straw and grain compared to conventional urea-treated plants. The best CRU fertilizers were CRU-3 and CRU-6, showing significant improvements in nitrogen use efficiency. Overall, CRU outperformed conventional urea in rice production in Jianghan Plain, China.
