Soil conservation in Yellow River Basin increases water resources by billions.
The Yellow River Basin in China faces challenges with water resources due to soil erosion and climate change. Soil and water conservation practices have been shown to reduce soil loss and increase water availability. By implementing these practices, the amount of water lost due to flushing sediment can be decreased, leading to an overall increase in water resources. This study found that from 1970 to 1996, soil and water conservation efforts in the Yellow River Basin resulted in a significant reduction in soil loss and an increase in water resources by billions of cubic meters.
