Tailored Energy Savings Goals Unlock Massive Greenhouse Gas Reductions for Buildings
Policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption often use the same energy saving rate for all buildings, which may not be effective for buildings already using less energy. This study looked at different building energy consumption patterns and proposed a method to set individual energy saving goals based on each building's energy use. By applying this method to a public building in Seoul, the study confirmed that a 26% energy consumption reduction goal could be achieved. This approach helps tailor energy saving goals to each building's specific needs, improving overall energy efficiency.
