Revolutionary Cryopreservation Method Preserves Liver Function Without Contamination Risks.
Liver spheroids were successfully cryopreserved using a cryogen-free cooler, which is a safer alternative to liquid coolants. The study compared this method to traditional nitrogen vapour-controlled cryopreservation. Both methods showed similar decreases in viability, cell numbers, and function compared to unfrozen controls. This technology provides a promising option for cryopreserving liver cell spheroids for potential clinical use.
