In a study of 200 small and medium enterprises in Harare, Zimbabwe, it was found that being innovative can help these businesses perform better. The research showed that when SMEs introduced new ideas or products, their performance improved. Specifically, coming up with new ways to organize their work and creating new products had a positive impact on how well the businesses did. However, changing how they marketed their products or their internal processes did not have the same effect. The influence of innovation on performance varied depending on the industry.
