Dual mulching in an apple orchard helps keep the soil moist. Researchers studied different mulching methods and found that using both plastic film and straw was the best for soil moisture. This method increased soil water storage by 6.7% compared to no mulching. It also reduced soil moisture fluctuations and improved stability. The apple yield was 48.2% higher with dual mulching. Overall, dual mulching is better than using just one type of mulch for keeping soil moist and improving apple yield.
