The European Union faced a sovereign debt crisis in 2010 due to the global financial crisis. The European Central Bank took actions to address the economic and financial issues. The crisis exposed weaknesses in the Economic Monetary Union. The causes, transmission, evolution, and potential solutions of the crisis were analyzed in this paper.
