A drainage system was changed to manage shallow groundwater, helping crops grow better. Tomatoes and cotton were grown successfully with this new system. By controlling the water table, tomatoes had less stress and better yields. Cotton got 22% of its water from the groundwater. This system reduced drainage and saved water used for irrigation.
