Surfactant-modified zeolite reduces brackish water salinity by 52%!
Desalination of brackish water using surfactant modified zeolite (SMZ) aims to reduce the saltiness of water that is not suitable for drinking or cooking. By modifying natural zeolite with surfactant, researchers were able to lower the salinity of brackish water by 52%. The best results were achieved after 4 hours of contact time with an initial salinity of 0.863 ppt.
