New strain of simian adenovirus shows faster replication and reduced oncogenic activity.
A new type of simian adenovirus called KB-230 was studied and found to have different properties compared to other strains. KB-230 replicates quickly in simian cells, causing damage in just 9 hours. It also accumulates in cells faster than other strains. However, KB-230 is less likely to cause cancer compared to another strain called MB-1. The researchers used various techniques to show that KB-230 is distinct from other known strains of simian adenovirus.
