Formaldehyde exposure linked to male infertility in groundbreaking study.
Formaldehyde exposure in male rats reduces sperm quality and DNA content in the testis and prostate. The study found that giving rats formaldehyde for 30 days led to lower sperm motility, viability, and count. The tissue protein content in the prostate and epididymis also decreased. Even when sperm was exposed to formaldehyde in a lab setting, it still had reduced motility and viability.
