Kano Metropolis Faces Environmental Crisis Due to Poor Solid Waste Management.
The study analyzed the amount and types of waste in Kano, Nigeria. They collected data from the government, interviewed stakeholders, and surveyed residential areas. The results showed that households produce the most waste, industries contribute a small amount, and the city generates around 3085 tons of waste daily. Most of the waste is organic and biodegradable. The waste is not managed well, leading to harmful gases and bacteria in the environment. The researchers recommend improving waste management, promoting recycling, and raising awareness about proper waste disposal.
