New weed management method boosts aromatic rice yield in Himalayas!
Researchers studied the best time to plant aromatic rice and how to manage weeds for higher yields. They found that planting rice on June 15th or July 10th gave similar results in grain and straw production. Using bispyribac herbicide after planting resulted in the highest grain and straw yields, similar to using cyhalofop-butyl + 2,4-D or anilophos + ethoxysulfuron herbicides. These methods led to more panicles per square meter, more grains per panicle, and heavier grains, while also reducing weed density and dry matter. This approach had the best benefit-cost ratio in both 2012 and 2013.
