The article compares different methods for removing minerals from coal. Currently, gravity separation is commonly used, but froth flotation and oil agglomeration are becoming more popular. These methods work by exploiting the different properties of coal and mineral particles in water to separate them. While gravity separation is good for removing large mineral particles, it struggles with tiny ones. Froth flotation and oil agglomeration are better at removing microscopic particles from coal.
