European Union citizenship has become important and widely recognized among EU nationals. Many citizens are aware of their rights, such as free movement and petitioning EU institutions. However, there is a lack of knowledge about EU citizenship among some respondents. While awareness of EU rights is increasing, the image of the EU among Europeans has declined, possibly due to perceived failures in addressing economic issues.
