Phosphorus pollution in the Xiangxi River is linked to human activities, especially the phosphorus industry. Total-phosphorus levels were higher in Dec. 2004 than in Jul. 2005, with sites 15 and 16 showing the highest concentrations. The sediment had TP levels ranging from 1179.53mg/kg to 1851.20mg/kg. Aluminum-phosphorus content in the sediment was higher in Jul. 2005 than in Dec. 2004, showing a seasonal variation.
