Soil study reveals long-term impact of pyrene on environment.
The study looked at how a chemical called pyrene behaves in different types of soil over a long period of time. They found that the amount of organic matter in the soil affects how pyrene sticks to the soil. Clay in the soil also plays a role in how much pyrene can be absorbed. As the time goes on, the soil absorbs more pyrene. When trying to remove pyrene from the soil, some of it is hard to get rid of, especially in soils with more organic matter. This shows that organic matter in the soil is important for how pyrene is absorbed and released over time.
