Norwegian container ports outshine international counterparts in productivity rankings.
The article compares the productivity of Norwegian container ports with similar ports in the Nordic countries and the UK from 2009 to 2014. They used a method called Malmquist Productivity Index to analyze changes in productivity. The main findings are: 1) Norwegian ports are more efficient than their international counterparts; 2) Norwegian ports show productivity growth over time, but they are not statistically better than others; 3) Overall, all ports improved productivity by about 0.6% per year, mainly due to technological advancements rather than efficiency improvements.
