Baseflow rates vary by catchment size, rainfall has no impact.
The study aimed to calculate baseflow in a watershed by separating daily streamflow data. Researchers used a standard method to separate the hydrograph, estimating baseflow by analyzing catchment characteristics. Baseflow rates ranged from 20.0% to 39.4%, with higher rates in larger areas and lower rates in smaller ones. Surprisingly, there was no clear relationship between rainfall and baseflow rates.
