The article explores how students' understanding of statistics is tested, focusing on descriptive statistics like averages and spreads. Researchers looked at 36 studies and found six main ways to assess students' statistical reasoning: interviews, surveys, tasks, tests, minute papers, and teaching methods. This study sheds light on how students are tested in descriptive statistics and offers suggestions for improving these assessments in the future.
