New herbicide combo boosts blackgram yield and slashes weed infestation!
Researchers studied different ways to control weeds in blackgram plants grown without irrigation in Rajasthan. They tested various herbicides and found that quizalofop-ethyl at 50 g/ha 30 days after sowing was the most effective in reducing weed density and dry matter, leading to higher seed yield and economic return. Another effective treatment was alachlor followed by imazethapyr. Overall, herbicidal treatments improved seed yield compared to letting the weeds grow unchecked. Rainfall was found to influence weed growth, with more rain leading to more weeds.
