Shadecloth Boosts Tomato and Chili Pepper Production in Hot Climates
Shadecloth was tested on tomatoes and chili peppers in Texas to see how it affected their growth and productivity. The study found that using 50% shade helped both plants by reducing heat stress and improving yield. However, using 70% shade actually decreased the yield of both crops. The plants grown in 50% shade had the best growth and highest photosynthetic rates, while those in full sun had the worst results. Overall, shading at 50% was the most beneficial for tomato and chili pepper production in Texas.
