New geostatistical approach leads to more accurate gas reservoir estimations.
The researchers studied a gas-condensate field in Croatia with complex rock properties. They used geostatistical methods to improve understanding of the reservoir. By comparing different mapping techniques, they found that Kriging provided the most accurate estimates of porosity. The new porosity maps led to more precise calculations of the gas reserves in the field.
