Land use types impact soil moisture in Northeast China's black soil region.
Soil moisture was studied in different types of land in Northeast China. The researchers found that embankments had the most moisture, while woodlands had the least. The soil moisture levels followed the same pattern as rainfall over time, but varied between land types. Different land types had different patterns of soil moisture at different depths. For example, wheat and soybean fields had varying moisture levels due to plow pans, while woodlands had decreasing moisture with depth. Each land type also showed seasonal changes in soil moisture, with wheat fields having the most variation.
