Earthworms turn paper waste into superfood for thriving crops!
The researchers aimed to recycle nutrients from paper industry waste by using earthworms to make vermicompost. They mixed the waste with cow dung and introduced earthworms to create the vermicompost. The study found that the vermicompost, vermiwash, and vermicompost extract had good nutrient levels. Cluster beans grown with these nutrients showed better growth and biochemical characteristics. The earthworm Eudrilus eugeniae kingberg was effective in converting the waste into nutrient-rich compost, which acted as a great fertilizer for crop plants.
