The study developed new equations to predict soil water content in Danish soils based on factors like particle size, organic matter, bulk density, and calcium carbonate content. These equations were more accurate than previous ones and outperformed existing models for European soils. Including bulk density improved predictions at certain pressure heads, while grouping data by soil horizons or textures did not enhance accuracy. The study also established van Genuchten parameters for different soil types in Denmark, which improved the prediction of soil water content compared to other methods.
