Cooperative Credit Unions in Latvia Provide Financial Lifeline for Unbankable People
Cooperative Savings and Credit Unions in Latvia are financial institutions that help people who can't access traditional banking services. They offer savings, loans, and money transfers at fair prices. These organizations, which have a long history in Latvia, were revived in 1995 after being shut down during World War II. Currently, there are 32 CSCUs in Latvia with over 26,000 members and nearly 23 million euros in assets. These CSCUs play a crucial role in providing essential financial services to those who may not have access to them otherwise.
