Improving the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) can be done by applying ISO 14001 and the EPA Code of Environmental Management Principles (CEMP). These systems can enhance mitigation and monitoring in the NEPA process, as well as help achieve NEPA's Section 101 goals. ISO 14001 provides a plan for addressing and improving environmental impacts continuously. Both CEMP and ISO 14001 have strong feedback loops that can improve environmental action and reduce paperwork in NEPA.
