A lot of interest is growing in Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) technologies, which can generate power efficiently. There are more than 4,000 MW of new IGCC projects happening worldwide. Some of these projects may not need extra funding because of the cost-saving technology. Researchers expect that improvements in gas turbine technology and project costs will make IGCC more affordable in the future. This paper discusses the current IGCC projects and how advancements in technology will make IGCC more competitive.
