H2S can rescue onion growth in sulfur-deprived conditions, study finds.
Onions were grown without enough sulfur, which affected their growth. When exposed to low levels of H2S gas, the onions were able to use it as a sulfur source and grow better. The H2S helped the plants get rid of sulfur deficiency symptoms and even increased their growth in some cases. This shows that H2S can replace sulfate as a sulfur source for onions.
