Game creation tools like RPG Maker make it easier for regular people to design their own video games. These tools have online communities where users create thousands of games. Not much research has been done on amateur game design, so the author of this paper is studying how people who play video games also create them. The early results of the research show that understanding how people play video games can help us understand how they use game creation tools.
