New rice varieties boost production in Ethiopian region, transforming local agriculture.
Improved upland rice varieties were tested in Kemashi, Ethiopia to find the best ones for rice production. The study looked at traits like days to maturity, plant height, and grain yield. They found that the number of filled grains per panicle was the most important trait for increasing rice yield. The varieties NERICA-15 and NERICA-4 were recommended for higher rice production in Kemashi.
