Farmers in Iowa prioritize weed control over profits in conservation tillage.
A survey in Sac County, Iowa, found that farmers are more concerned about weed and insect control, planting issues, and costs of switching to conservation tillage than about yields and profits. Farmers using less intensive tillage methods tend to be more positive about conservation tillage. More farmers reported using conservation tillage than what was actually observed, possibly due to different definitions of the practice.
