New research sets ideal indoor temperatures for maximum comfort in summer and winter.
The goal of the study was to determine the comfortable temperature and humidity levels for indoor environments in both summer and winter. The researchers used subjective and objective assessments to find the acceptable temperature range, air flow rate, and vertical air temperature difference. They found that the recommended comfort temperature ranges are 25–28 °C in summer and 22–25 °C in winter. The biggest acceptable temperature fluctuation is 0.6 °C in summer, and the biggest acceptable air flow rate is 0.5 m/s. In winter, a vertical air temperature difference higher than 3.2 °C makes people feel comfortable.
