Seed protein patterns reveal distinct groups in Vigna species.
Seed proteins were compared in different species of Vigna and related genera. Three distinct groups were identified based on protein patterns: Vigna hosei and Vigna luteola, Vigna mungo, Vigna angularis, Vigna umbellata, Vigna trilobata, and Vigna radiata, and Vigna sinensis, Vigna unquiculata, and Vigna aconitifolia. Psophocarpus was found to be very different from the others, while some genera showed partial similarity in seed protein patterns.
