The article explores using a hybrid power system for a compound rotary-wing UAV. This system includes an engine, motor&generator, battery, and controller. Two types of hybrid systems, series-hybrid and parallel-hybrid, were studied. The series-hybrid design is simpler, while the parallel-hybrid design is more complex but can supply power more effectively.
