Revolutionizing Maize Farming: New Tillage Techniques Boost Crop Yields in Ethiopia
Conservation tillage techniques were tested in Ethiopia to see how they affect maize production. Different methods were compared, and ripping followed by manual planting was found to be the best in terms of saving time and effort. This method was better than conventional tillage and other reduced tillage systems. It is recommended for areas with unpredictable rainfall patterns like the Rift Valley. Using a row planter with the ripper can help achieve uniform seed placement and timely planting.
