Siltation threatens Landeyjahöfn Harbour in Iceland, urgent solutions needed.
The Landeyjahofn Harbour in Iceland has been facing siltation issues since 2010, affecting ferry operations. To address this, a study was conducted to understand sediment transport and coastal changes. By analyzing wave data and shoreline measurements, it was found that the harbour's location experiences complex sediment movement, leading to accumulation and siltation. Building long groins or jetties could help reduce sediment transport and improve harbour conditions. Further research is needed to determine the best solutions for the ongoing siltation problems.
