Warmer climate residents prefer cooler indoor temperatures, but feel discomfort quickly.
The study looked at how people from different climates feel in a warm indoor setting. They couldn't change their clothes or activity level. People used a scale to rate how hot or cold they felt, how strong smells were, air movement, freshness, and surface temperatures. Those used to hot weather and air conditioning liked cooler indoor temperatures, but felt hotter over time. Different groups felt air movement and freshness differently. Future research will look at how temperature affects how fresh the air feels.
