The researchers studied different ways to control weeds in winter French bean crops in western Uttar Pradesh. They tested 12 methods, including using herbicides and hand weeding. They found that applying fluchloralin or pendimethalin before planting was the most effective in controlling weeds, leading to better growth and higher yields of French beans. These herbicides also helped in reducing nitrogen losses through weeds, resulting in higher profits for farmers in the region.
