New slurry application method reduces phosphorus loss in runoff by 41%!
Slurry application method affects phosphorus loss in runoff from grassland soils during wet periods. Trailing-shoe technique reduces phosphorus in runoff compared to splash-plate method. Runoff phosphorus levels were lower when slurry was applied with trailing-shoe method, especially in December and March. This shows that using the trailing-shoe technique can help reduce phosphorus loss from agricultural soils during wet periods.
